How to clean your Jewelry - Part II

Posted on September 10, 2014 by Brianne Taylor

For those who found last week's blog post helpful about how to clean your jewelry at home, we have a couple more tips for you!

Cleaning Diamonds:

Soak for 20 minutes in a solution of one cup warm water and 1/4 cup ammonia. Then gently scrub with a soft-bristle toothbrush, getting into the small areas between the diamond and the setting. Rinse with warm water, and lay on a tissue to dry. This method works great for diamonds set in Platinum and Gold,  if you have a diamond set in silver you do not want to use ammonia.

Cleaning Pearls:

Rub each pearl individually with a soft, clean cotton cloth dampened with a solution of two cups warm water and a few drops of a mild dishwashing liquid.  Do not soak strands of pearls as this can cause them to stretch. Let air-dry overnight.
